The library is open 24/7 so books can be checked out and returned at your convenience.

How do I check out items?

Books:  remove the book's card from its pocket, sign and date it and place the card in the check-out box on top of the card catalog next to the office.
  • Take as many books as you like
  • Keep them up to a month
  • If you want to renew them call (857-4963) or visit the office during staff hours
  • Return them to the book drop slots when you are finished reading them

DVDs:  need to be checked out during office hours. 
  • Bring the DVD container to the office during regular office hours, 9:30 to 11:30 Monday-Friday
  • You may check out two DVDs (per apartment) 
  • Keep them up to five days
  • Return them to the book drop slots when you are finished viewing them


 Audio books: are checked out by signing the book near the   audio collection at the back of the library. 


How do I return items?


  • Book drop slots are located at the ends of the shelves near the two doors nearest the library office.
  • Books, paperbacks, and DVDs can be placed in the slots
  • You can return an item 24/7

Can I reserve a book or movie?  Yes 


  • Call 857-4963 or visit the library office during office hours and request the title you want
  •  You will be called when it becomes available

Can I recommend an item for purchase?  Yes
  • Next to the check-out box on top of the card catalog is a box for suggestions for new purchases.
  • Write your request (title and author), your name and phone number on a card, and drop it in the box
  • You will be called when your request is available
  • Note:  cost and general interest are taken into consideration in purchases

Does the library accept donations?   Yes
  • Donations which meet library needs may be added to the collection
  • Items not needed are passed on to the Friends of the Pensacola Public Library for their used book sales
  • All library magazines are donations.  Those donated should be no older than two months

Who takes care of the library?
A committee of Azalea Trace volunteers, including several degreed librarians, oversees the library.  They meet monthly to discuss the operation of the library, purchase new books and DVDs, and review donations for possible inclusion in the collection.


How can I volunteer to work in the library?

  • Call the library at 857-4963 
  • Leave your name and phone number and state you are interested in volunteering
  • You will be contacted by one of the librarians who will happily explain the various volunteer opportunities we have available 

Or, 

  • Stop by the office during the posted hours: 9:30-11:30am
  • A staff member will take your name and phone number
  • You will be contacted by one of the librarians who will happily explain the various volunteer opportunities we have available
